I knew I was going to like this book less than 10 pages in. A hospice nurse finds a locket at an Estate Sale and is transported to Sang. Sang is an alternate universe and also about 100 years behind us. Then we meet Criminy Stain. *sigh* Tish, our MC, meets him immediately.
There are bludmen, bludbunnies (which still tickles me a bit), bludrats, and pretty much anything else blud-you can think of. Except birds, because apparently, that’s just silly. :) Carnival folk and real magic round out this new world and its inhabitants.
Criminy is, in his words, “a gypsy. A rogue. As wicked as they come.” and that was when I realized that I was completely in love with this character.
I’ve deleted half of this review at least twice because of spoilers. But I could go on and on. I fell into this reality and didn’t want to come out. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be continuing the series.
